Traditionally the bride’s father will be the first to speak and should be introduced by the best man to the wedding guests. The bride’s father’s speech will usually be to toast the happy couple and wish them success for a happy and long marriage.

Before making his speech he will normally welcome the grooms parents and friends and family of both sides. He will welcome his new son in law into the family and talk a little about his daughter before turning the floor over to the groom.
